Conditions on the Ski Trails

The Rib Lake Ski & Snowshoe Trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing.  They are groomed at minimum weekly and after each snowfall as necessary to ensure a quality skiing experience.

The Rib Lake Ski & Snowshoe Trails connect to the Camp Forest Springs Trails and the Timm's Hill National Trail, which connects to the High Point Ski Trails, creating over 70km of connected trails, offering some of the finest cross-country skiing in the mid-west.

Snowshoeing, skijoring, and well behaved pets are welcome on the Rib Lake Ski & Snowshoe Trails, the Timm's Hill National Trail, and the High Point Ski Trails.

Trail Conditions are also posted on Facebook.

Trails have been packed and a final grooming & tracking will be done on Friday morning, March 1st. Due to the extreme amount of snow and machinery challenges this week, the Championship Trail will not be groomed. A HUGE thank you to Mike Quednow, our fearless groomer for his tireless and nearly constant hard work in keeping our trails in great ski shape this month. If you see Mike, buy him a beer... maybe two.

The Rib Lake trails were packed on Wednesday and will be groomed and tracked by the end of the day on Thursday Feb. 14th. Be aware that with so much snow at once combined with mild temperatures, the trail conditions will be on the softer side.

Very Good

Rib Lake trails were groomed and tracked on Wednesday January 23rd. The trail is well covered but is still rough in spots - we got about an inch of fresh snow this week but need a bit more for best conditions.

Fair

The Rib Lake trail system was groomed today, Saturday Dec. 29th. One run with the groomer down the middle, no tracks yet. There are still some leaves visible. Great conditions for snowshoeing; would recommend old rock skis if you’re trying it out on skis.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The beginner loop is closed until January 7th. Please respect the wishes of our private landowners and stay on the parts of the trail that are currently open! The green loop is groomed and ready. You can still start at the Hwy C parking lot and stay on the yellow loop to connect to the green loop.

CHAMPIONSHIP LOOP: The Championship trail west of Hwy D is quite rutted up from vehicle use during the wet fall season and will need more snow before the ruts are buried.

Poor

The ski trails have been groomed but not tracked. The snow has been packed and trails are about 70% covered with lots of leaves still visible. Five more inches is needed for ideal trail conditions. Recommend snowshoes for now or old skis if you have them.
